Aramaic presents new drummer

In January 2015, Fadi Shami of the Doom Death Metal band ARAMAIC from the UAE, contacted Tempest and conceptualized the bands vision, He thought their music would cast him to express himself freely behind a drum kit, no restrictions, no titles, this was a project that he would definitely want to be involved with; it all made sense, as they were looking for a drummer to fill the ranks. Their path on this journey will be of Epic proportions. Even though Hendrik is a family man, with a job as a tattoo artist & a musician with Maat & Aethernaeum (from 2013), he is dedicated & pledged his soul to his Kin & comrades, especially in music, with Aramaic being a part of his present earthly existence.

Hendrik; Born October '86 in the eastern part of Berlin, by a mother who rocked to bands like Guns n Roses, Type O Negative and Megadeth, Hendrik Wodynski AKA Tempest, began hammering on a football with two pens while listening to mix-tapes she forged for him, thus the introduction to the world or Rock n Roll commenced. At the age of 6, the enthusiasm was his guide to earn the first drum lessons in 93’. With reluctance, a few months later, due to school & financial beckoning, the lessons were terminated. Practicing at home & playing endless rudiments did not fulfill the deep hunger he thought he could not progress as the drummers on those mix-tapes he possessed, alas, the bitter end came forth.

In Autumn 99’ reminiscing with his mother about her involvement in the old Berlin Metal days, a tape was unearthed, it was Annihilator’s ‘Set The World On Fire’, Hendrik's life was set ablaze, it finally had meaning & perspective. The following day, at school, the music teacher granted him permission to use & abuse the drum kit in the school cellar; a strange feeling descended upon him, it felt different, there were no rules, no books, just him and the kit. Months passed of practice and researching the genres music, until one day he unraveled a band called Dimmu Borgir, that exposed him to a whole new dimension of Metal, specifically the double bass, blast beats & fast rolls! At 14, the first kit was acquired, a Pearl Export (which is still part of his set-up), the next step of this path was to find like minded individuals, who wanted to create a brutal & evil entity, however that was an elusive thought. The musical journey started with a crossover band called Panzerglas in 2001, giving Hendrik the first Live concert experience.

The hunger for faster & more aggressive music grew, which paved way in joining Thrash Metal band Damned Division, by further developing his techniques and introducing him to music production, studio recording. In 2009, the venture took a different direction, by joining his first Black Metal band, Vinthar, the journey was short lived.

Eagerly searching for a new project, Hendrik stumbled upon an ad by 2 mortals seeking a drummer influenced by the likes Nile & Behemoth, this was a sign from the many Gods, the timing couldn't have been more synchronised, with Kris (Thot) & Franko (Scaradeus) MAAT was incepted. From resurrection, in 2010, playing Egyptian Death Metal was his passion. After a few years of Live performances, supporting Six feet Under, Anaal Nathrakh, Dark Funeral, Entombed. In 2013, by entering Soundlodge Studios, they finally embarked on the recording & producing their Debut album ‘As We Create The Hope From Above’. This opened up the gates of the world to them, meeting musicians from across the earth, by playing concerts & through the medium of technology.
