Barbarian Fist - The Whorelord Cometh

Consider myself a lucky guy for having an income box always full with musical news; the downside it’s the lack of time to ear them all. That’s why I signal the ones that got my attention at first hearing and get back to them as soon as possible to listen more carefully. Taking advantage of a moment of peace while the rain was falling outside, I went to get one of those albums to listen more carefully…

First impression, the name of the tracks. “No Brakes on the Rape Train” or “Bear Destroyer” makes us take a step back and think “what the hell did they sent me to listen to”? Fortunately the majority of the 40 minutes length of all 4 tracks from “The Whorelord Cometh” has short lyrics, let’s face it, that’s not their strong point. Regarding the sound, well… now that’s a completely different story. Heavy and filthy Stoner Doom that grabs us by the feet and drags us throughout psychedelic worlds, capable of releasing our soul (add it a couple of beers and some other “additive” and you have the formula for happiness). Plenty but not repetitive riffs, those drums really know how to make its presence known, gluing to our brains like a magnet, the guitar with that worm Blues sound wraping us is such a way that makes us lose control of our body, making it impossible to stop feet stomping or slowly shaking skeleton. These guys are only 3 but their music fills the room like if they were many more!

Lets face it, just need to head to Barbarian Fist’s Facebook page to see they are not to be taken seriously. it’s one of those bands that doesn’t seem to bother with quibbles, concentrating only on what’s important: to make good music. That’s the type of matter Underground bands should be made of.
