Gonoreas - Minotaur

Melodia, guitarras fortes e uma voz fantástica são ingredientes mais que suficientes para uma qualquer banda mostrar bons lançamentos. Se a isso juntarmos composições que captam o melhor do thrash, NWOBHM e power metal, corremos o risco de escutar um álbum portentoso.

Os Suíços Gonoreas lançaram o seu sexto trabalho de originais com o título “Minotaur” e que, à semelhança da criatura na capa, se revela um verdadeiro monstro. Logo a abrir, depois de uma intro somos abalroados por uma “Seeds Of A New Future” que graças ao timbre vocal de Leandro Pacheco nos trás à memória os Iron Maiden; velocidade de execução, baixo e bateria fortes a fazerem-se sentir a par da guitarra e ganchos apelativos. Depois a banda entra numa toada mais power thrash com “Puzzle”, derivando para um heavy/thrash mais compassado em “Eris”. Uma das faixas que mais me agrada neste trabalho é “Price Of Eternity”, cuja entrada poderosa das guitarras em conjunto com a bateria, aliadas a um registo vocal impressionante resultam numa composição plena de pujança e melodia; a par com “Fragments” são as faixas que exploram mais a vertente thrash. Mas nem só de peso é feito este trabalho como podemos comprovar em “Behind The Wall”, balada acústica onde se pode apreciar Leandro com vocais limpos. O álbum segue com este equilíbrio de forças nas composições com uma conjugação dos diversos subgéneros.

“Minotaur” é um trabalho que não cansa ouvir, muito por culpa do cuidado colocado nas 10 composições que fez com que não soassem todas iguais ao mesmo tempo que mantinham uma toada enérgica e melódica. Não se pode descurar também o contributo de Leandro para o sucesso das músicas, cujos registos vocais são sem dúvida impressionantes. Este trabalho dos Gonoreas afigura-se sem dúvida um dos melhores do ano no género.

Melody, guitars and a fantastic voice are more than enough ingredients for any band to show some good releases. If to that we add compositions that capture the best in thrash, NWOBHM and power metal we take some serious chances to listen to a portentous album.

Swiss Gogoreas have released their sixth studio album titled “Minotaur” that, similar to the creature in the cover, it reveals a real monster. For opening and after the intro we are rammed by a “Seeds Of A New Future” that thanks to Leandro Pacheco’s vocal timbre brings Iron Maiden to memory; execution speed, strong bass and drums making themselves heard along with the guitars and catching hooks. Afterwards the bands goes into a more power thrash pace in “Puzzle”, drifting to a more paced heavy/thrash in “Eris”. One of the tracks that most pleases me in this album is “Price Of Eternity”, whose powerful guitar entrance along with the drums, combined with an impressive vocal record end up resulting in a composition filled with strength and melody; along with “Fragments” are the two tracks that best explore the thrash approach. But this work in not only made of weight as we can perceive in “Behind The Wall”, acoustic ballad where we can enjoy Leandro’s clean vocals. The album goes along keeping this balance of strength in the compositions with a diverse sub genre mixing.

“Minotaur” is a work that doesn’t tires his listeners, mainly because of the carefulness put in the 10 songs that made them all possible not to sound the same but at the same time keeping a melodic and energetic pace. We cannot forget Leandro’s contribute to this musical success, whose vocal records are undoubtedly impressive. This Gonoreas’ work may be one of the best within its genre this year.
