Os Suecos Soen regressaram a Portugal para apresentarem o seu mais recente trabalho “Lykaia”; consigo trouxeram os Noruegueses Madder Mortem para um regresso há muito aguardado, tendo ficado a abertura do evento a cargo dos Heavenwood.
Final de um dia de trabalho e com trânsito à mistura, esperava-se pouco público para a primeira banda mas ainda assim a sala já se apresentava bem composta para mais um concerto dos Heavenwood, desta vez com Miguel Inglês na voz. Já é habitual vermos o frontman dos Equaleft a substituir Ernesto quando é de todo impossível a presença deste, para nós e apesar de muitos concertos assistidos era a primeira vez que iriamos ver como soava. Miguel esteve bem, é notória a maior força vocal em relação ao Ernesto mas enquadra-se bem na sonoridade da banda. Como se esperava o concerto foi repartido entre os temas mais recentes de “The Tarot Of The Bohemians” e os clássicos retirados de “Diva” e “Redemption”.
Catorze anos depois os Noruegueses Madder Mortem voltaram a tocar no Hard Club, e desde logo coloca-se a questão: porquê tanto tempo ausentes? Mesmo com Agnete a desculpar-se por estar ligeiramente constipada, a verdade é que isso em pouco ou nada influenciou o concerto. Nas palavras da própria “...nós tocamos diversos estilos dentro da mesma música...” e isso viu-se e sentiu-se; do palco vinha uma entrega total e do público uma correspondência ímpar, com praticamente todas as músicas a serem largamente ovacionadas. Os sentimentos estavam ao rubro, fazendo com que Agnete se emocionasse um pouco no final; antes e depois do concerto foram muitos os fãs e novos amigos a confraternizar com eles, num clima de perfeita comunhão.
Apesar de apenas há 2 anos terem estado no nosso país, este regresso dos Suecos Soen teve um significado especial. Foi na Sala 1 do Hard Club que se estrearam em 2012, na altura como banda de suporte aos Paradise Lost; e se nessa altura a sala estava cheia para ver a banda Britânica desta vez estavam lá para eles. Era difícil a Stefan, Markus, Lars, Joel e Martin ficarem indiferentes a tamanha recepção do público, que em uníssono acompanhava temas como “Sister”, “Pluton” ou “Jinn”, terminando a noite ao som do encore de “Tabula” e “Lucidity”.
Mais do que um concerto, esta noite foi o exemplo perfeito de comunhão público/bandas; mais do que simples espetáculos, estes momentos acabam por ser pontos de encontro de um grupo de pessoas com interesses comuns, cujo prazer é simplesmente apreciarem boa música em conjunto. Um agradecimento à Mazefest e à Free Music Events, não só pela oportunidade como também por terem trazido tão singelos músicos de volta ao nosso País; obrigado também ao Hard Club pelas condições oferecidas.

Swedish band Soen returned to Portugal to present their most recent work “Lykaia”; with them came Norwegian Madder Mortem for a highly expected return, with the opening act in charge of Portuguese band Heavenwood.
End of a working day and with lots of traffic, was expected a small audience for the first band but nevertheless the venue was well arranged for another Heavenwood concert, this time with Miguel Inglês on the vocals. It is usual to see Equaleft’s frontman replacing Ernesto on the vocals when he can’t be present but for us and although we have been in many concerts in the past it was the first time we would see how it sounded. Miguel was well, it’s obvious his stronger vocals compared to Ernesto but they fit well in the bands’ sonority. As expected the gig was distributed between newer songs from the most recent “The Tarot Of The Bohemians” and the classics taken from “Diva” and “Redemption”.
Fourteen years later Norwegians Madder Mortem returned to play at Hard Club and since the first song a question was raised: why such a long absence? Even with Agnete excusing herself for being slightly cold the truth is that didn’t pinch the gig. In her own words “... we play many styles inside the same song…” and that could be heard and felt; from the stage came a total commitment and from the audience an unique correspondence, with almost every song being greatly applauded. The emotions were high making Agnete to get a little bit emotional in the end; before and after the concert many were the fans and newer friends hanging out with them, in a spirit of perfect union.
Although only 2 years ago they’ve visited our country, this return of Swedish Soen had a special meaning. It was at Hard Club Sala 1 they debuted in 2012, at the time as a supporting act for Paradise Lost; and if back then the venue was full to see the British band this time they were there for them. It was hard for Stefan, Markus, Lars, Joel and Martin to remain impassive to such a warm welcome from the audience that in unison sang along song such as “Sister”, “Pluton” or “Jinn”, ending the night with “Tabula” and “Lucidity” at the encore.
More than a gig this night was a perfect example of the audience/bands perfect communion; more than a simple show these moments end up being meeting points for groups of people with similar tastes, whose only pleasure is to simply enjoy good music together. A thank you to Mazefest and Free Music Events, not only for the opportunity but also for bringing such sincere musicians back to our country; also thank you to Hard Club for the facilities given.
