Iberia + Web + New Mecanica @ Cave 45

No passado Sábado dia 3 de Junho a cidade do Porto fez parte da rota da tournée dos Iberia de promoção ao seu novo trabalho “Much Higher Than A Hope”; o local escolhido foi o Cave 45 e fizeram-se acompanhar pelos New Mecanica e Web.

Coube aos New Mecanica a tarefa de abrir a noite com o seu rock/metal cheio de groove. Confesso que não conhecia o seu som (não pensei que os fosse ver ao vivo antes do Laurus Nobilis) mas agradou-me bastante, não só pela musicalidade como pela presença de palco. Uma atuação muito boa, obviamente mais focada no seu mais recente trabalho “No Straight Lane”, que me despertou a curiosidade para os rever num palco maior. Sem dúvida um nome a reter.

Segunda banda da noite, os nortenhos Web facilmente elevaram a temperatura ao som de temas como “False Prophets” ou “Death My Enemy”, retirados do seu último trabalho “Everything Ends”, mas também com alguns clássicos de “Deviance” como “Mortal Soul” ou “Resilient Casket”. Atuação enérgica ao nível que nos habituaram, agradou-me imenso revê-los em palco e certamente que ao restante público presente.

Três anos após a sua última passagem pelo Porto, finalmente os Iberia regressaram e para apresentar um novo registo, o 4º da sua carreira de 30 anos. Eles que recentemente foram agraciados pela Câmara de onde são oriundos pelo seu contributo para a região e País com a “Medalha de Mérito Artístico e Cultural”, mostraram que a idade da banda não pesa nos seus ombros, antes refina a qualidade. Com uma setlist obviamente focada neste último trabalho (do qual não tocaram 4 temas), a banda foi acompanhada em alguns excertos pelo público presente mas os momentos mais altos da noite estavam reservados para os “clássicos” “Angel” e “Heroes Of The Wasted Land”. Este regresso com um novo registo após uma longa ausência de originais é mostra do seu valor e merecedor de maior projecção e reconhecimento. Este concerto foi bom mas a banda é merecedora de um palco maior. Quem sabe numa próxima visita ao Norte isso não venha a acontecer?

Para a noite ter sido perfeita apenas se pedia um pouco mais de público, mas os presentes souberam receber bem e retribuir da melhor forma. Resta-me apenas agradecer às bandas pelas prestações em palco, ao Cave 45 pelas condições oferecidas e à Raising Legends na pessoa de André Matos pela oportunidade. Até ao próximo!

On the last Saturday June 3rd the city of Oporto was part of the tour for “Much Higher Than A Hope”, Iberia’s latest work; the place chosen for the gig was Cave 45 and the band made themselves accompanied by New Mecanica and Web.

The task of opening the night was entitled to New Mecanica with their rock/metal full of groove. I must confess I didn’t knew how they sounded (never thought I was able to see them live prior to Laurus Nobilis) but it pleased me, not only by their musicality but also for stage presence. A very good performance obviously more focused on their latest work “No Straight Lane” that made me curious to see them at a bigger stage. A name to keep in mind.

Second band of the night, northern Web easily rose the temperature with songs like “False Prophets” or “Death My enemy”, taken from their latest work “Everything Ends” but also with classics like “Mortal Soul” or “Resilient Casket” taken from “Deviance”. Energetic gig like the ones they’ve accustomed us to, it pleased me and surely to the rest of the crowd to see them once again live.

Three years after their last show in Oporto Iberia finally returned to present their latest work, the 4th in a career of 30 years. They were recently honoured by the city hall where they come from for they roll to the region and country with the medal for “Medalha de Mérito Artístico e Cultural” and showed that the band’s age doesn’t weighs on their shoulders, yet it refines quality. With a setlist obviously mainly focused on the last work (from where they skipped 4 songs) the band was accompanied in some excerpts by the audience but the highlights of the night were booked for the “classics” “Angel” and “Heroes Of The Wasted Land”. This comeback with a new album after a long absence of originals is proof of their value and worthy of more exposure and recognition. This gig was good but the band deserves a bigger stage. Who knows, maybe on their next visit up North?

For the night to be perfect we could only ask for some more crowd attending but the ones there knew how to welcome and reciprocate the best way. I just wish to thank all the bands for their shows, Cave 45 for the facilities given and to Rising Legends in the person of André Matos for the opportunity. Until the next one!
