A terceira edição do Laurus Nobilis arrancou com uma das novidades, um segundo palco onde subiram nesta primeira noite do evento 5 jovens bandas convidadas pelo Pelouro da Juventude da Câmara Municipal de Famalicão no único dia de entrada livre e com o recinto bem composto.
NOS2, um duo de covers mais habituado ao formato acústico, surgiu em palco com um guitarrista e baixista convidados para, dessa forma, apresentarem um som mais preenchido. Com uma sonoridade entre o pop rock e o r&b, tocaram entre outros temas de AC/DC, Amy Winehouse e Eurythmics para além de um tema original. Notoriamente fora do seu meio, acabaram por dar um bom concerto e um bom arranque a 3 dias de música.
Não é preciso muito para se perceber uma das influências musicais por detrás dos 7 Pedras Na Mão, basta olhar para a camisola do vocalista. Com um rock de fusão que congrega elementos ska, grunge e alternativo, os 7 Pedras Na Mão deram um concerto bastante enérgico e pleno de groove com um Hugo muito irrequieto em palco (o baterista Pardal é outro dos elementos mais efusivos). Com apenas 1 EP na sua discografia têm potencial para subirem mais alto.
Os Filtro entraram em palco… sem filtro. Com um primeiro tema em ritmo rock blues foram tocando música após música de forma descontraída e divertida (onde não faltou a balada), mostrando o (bom) caminho por onde segue o rock Português. Uma sugestão: aproveitem mais a onda rock/blues pois é onde se enquadram melhor.
Claramente apostando numa vertente electro pop/rock, os Owl And The Fox facilmente cativaram o público, não só pela sonoridade mais próxima da juventude presente mas também pela forma efusiva como se apresentaram em palco. De salientar na sua atuação uma cover arriscada para “Uninvited” de Alanis Morissette; apesar de cantada num tom agudo, Hugo aguentou-se bem.
A noite terminou em bom estilo com o hard rock musculado dos Full Track. Com uma sonoridade assente nas duas guitarras e bateria forte, sobressai a voz áspera de Luís. A meio do concerto pediu aos presentes que ligassem os flashes dos telemóveis enquanto tocavam um trecho orquestrado, em homenagem a uma amiga falecida recentemente. Tirando este momento mais “intimista”, o concerto decorreu sempre em alta rotação.

Laurus Nobilis third edition started with one new feature, a second stage where 5 young bands invited by Famalicão City Hall Youth Department played on this first night, the one with free entrance and with an acceptable crowd attending.
NOS2, a covers band duo most accustomed to play acoustic, appeared on stage with a guitarist and bassist invited so they could present a more robust sound. With a sonority between pop rock and r&b the band played among others songs from AC/DC, Amy Winehouse and Eurythmics besides an original. Obviously out of their environment they’ve managed to give a good gig and a good kick start for 3 days of music.
We don’t need much to perceive one of the musical influences behind 7 Pedras Na Mão, we just need to look at vocal’s shirt. With a fusion rock that gathers elements from ska, grunge and alternative, the band gave an energetic concert full of groove with a restless Hugo on stage (drummer Pardal is another of the most effusive members). With just 1 EP on their discography the band has potential to go further.
Filtro (filter) entered on stage… with no filter. With a first track paced by rock blues they were playing music by music in a relaxed and fun way (not forgetting the rock ballad), showing the (good) track Portuguese rock is following. A suggestion: take more advantage of the rock/blues sonority because that’s where the band fits better.
Clearly betting in a electro pop/rock approach, Owl And The Fox easily attracted the audience, not only because their sound is closer to the youngster present but also by the effusive way they’ve presented themselves on stage. As an highlight point in their gig a risky cover for Alanis Morissette’s “Uninvited”; although sang in an high pitched tone Hugo stood up well.
The night ended in good style with Full Track’s muscled hard rock. With a sonority based in the two guitars and strong drums, João’s harsh voice stands out. In the middle of the concert he asked the presents to turn on their phone flashes while they played an orchestrated excerpt in homage of a recently deceased friend. Apart from this “intimate” moment the gig took place at high rotation.
