Laurus Nobilis Music Fest - Day 1

The day started gray with some rainy drops falling during the night and morning but the temperature kept high. Along the day the sky was clearing and the Sun started to fully shine. The wheels were in motion for a great Alternative Rock/Metal night.
My first impact has i got to the festival area was a sense of accuracy and organizational quality. Not everything is perfect and some flaws are admissible (wrong signing, for instance); things like these happen in wider and known events so why not here?... There are also some negative aspects to point out, there’s no such thing as perfect festivals. The biggest flaw on this first day was probably the 1 and a half hour delay to the beginning of the concerts, due to a generator failure during sound check. But even that didn’t pinched the ability shown by all involved, from musicians to sound technicians, security, personnel and volunteers; there were also made some adjustments in and between acts which made it possible to finish the first day without delays.

After all’s been taken cared of and ready, was time to give music to the audience. Starting at full blast, as demanded to a band celebrating their 20th anniversary and more than used to this ambients, but the public kept a little bit shy, probably because the majority didn’t knew them. But at each song Aguiar showed is energetic side and easily caught their attention, having his highlight during the cover for Zeca Afonso’s “Vejam Bem”, when the public sang along with him.

Also at full speed More Than A Thousand stormed the stage and started delivering explosive and catchy Nu Metal. That alone was more than enough to please the public, by that time mainly band’s fans, but Vasco’s empathy made it more cheerful. A concert as expected, with a circle pit and lots of fun.

A career of 27 years is not a hallmark most bands can achieve. The one’s who get there (with quality) do it at the cost of sweat, hard work and dedication. That makes it possible for them to have a large number of followers, young and not so young, but all of them eager for some good music. That’s synonym for R.A.M.P.! Nothing more to say, tremendous concert well accompanied by the audience headbang, even by the ones not used to that.

Closing the night another band with a long career, Adolfo Luxúrias Canibal’s Mão-Morta. In an act that started with a more experimental tune, progressively evolved from calm songs to faster and stronger ones, while Adolfo mesmerized the audience with his pungent lyrics and stage presence. Love it or hate it, it’s undeniable the quality of the musicians on stage. A great ending in a more alternative mood, has if decompressing from all the adrenaline discharged during this first day.

Bring some more music on the 2nd day...
