Depois dos primeiros passos em 2012 com o EP “The Call Of Extinction” e da afirmação em 2015 com a estreia “Overdrive”, os thrashers Alemães Running Death regressam agora com novo trabalho intitulado “DressAge”.
Nos dias que correm, quando se ouve a palavra thrash a tendência recai em sonoridade furiosas e riffs devastadores tocados por guitarras rápidas e, na maioria dos casos, com um toque de death/hardcore à mistura. Felizmente que nem todos tendem a seguir esse caminho optando por um thrash mais old school ao estilo do praticado na saudosa década de 1980, em que nos tops estavam temas de bandas como Megadeth, Annihilator e outras. Foi essa escolha que fizeram os Running Death e que cimentam com este novo trabalho, refinando ainda mais o seu som, cujo resultado é uma espécie de cruzamento entre o speed thrash norte-Americano com um toque de hard rock/metal Germânico (sou só eu a pensar que “Heroes of the Hour” vai buscar muita influência a Rage?), aqui e ali com apontamentos variados como o progressivo ou o rock clássico. As duas guitarras formam uma parelha que varia entre os acordes rápidos e escalados da instrumental “Anthem of Madness” até ao som clássico de “Safety Second”, assumindo claro destaque apoiadas por uma bateria que sendo simples cumpre muito bem o seu papel; pessoalmente gostaria de um pouco mais de baixo mas nesta sonoridade mais tradicional acaba por se notar de forma equilibrada.
Os Running Death não deixam dúvidas quanto à sua habilidade técnica (prestem atenção ao solo de “Numbers”) e capacidade para compor. Pegando em sonoridades clássicas, foram capazes de as conjugar de forma harmoniosa e nivelada, quer em termos de peso quer em melodia, imprimindo assim um cunho pessoal que os distingue na cena de forma positiva.

After the first steps in 2012 with the EP “The Call Of Extinction” and the statement in 2015 with the debut “Overdrive”, German thrashers Running Death return now with the sophomore called “DressAge”.
Nowadays, when we hear the word thrash the tendency falls in furious sonorities and devastating riffs played by fast guitars and in the majority of cases with a touch of death/hardcore. Fortunately not all tend to follow that path preferring an old school thrash like the one played on the nostalgic decade of 1980, when singles from bands like Megadeth, Annihilator and others were on the hit tracks. That was the choice made by Running Death, strengthened with this new work and refining ever more their sound, whose result is some sort of mix between north-American speed thrash with a touch of German hard rock/metal (is it only me thinking that “Heroes of the Hour” gets greats influence from Rage?), here and there with various touches like progressive and classic rock. The two guitars form a duo that changes between fast scales and chords from the instrumental “Anthem of Madness” to the classical sound of “Safety Second”, assuming highlighted position backed by simple drums who do their job well; personally I would enjoy a little more bass but in this more traditional sonority turns out sounding very balanced.
Running Death leave no doubt regarding their technical proficiency (pay attention to the solo in “Numbers”) and the ability to compose. Picking up classical sonorities they’ve managed to combine them in a very balanced and harmonic way, so in weight as in melody, that way imprinting a personal touch that distinguishes them positively in the scene.
