Depois de esgotar a sala Lux Frágil em Lisboa, The Legendary Tigerman (aka Paulo Furtado) rumou ao Hard Club no Porto para apresentar o seu novo “Misfit”. Com ele trouxe Sean Riley (aka Afonso Rodrigues) para abrir a noite, ele que também está a apresentar um novo trabalho, “California”, gravado por Paulo Furtado.
Sozinho em palco, sem os seus Slowriders e apenas com a companhia da guitarra, Sean Riley tocou alguns temas que compõem o seu registo a solo que vai ser lançado em Abril. Esta parceria em palco começou a formar-se ainda fora dele aquando da gravação dos temas de “California”, mas não deixa de ser curioso ver Sean Riley a solo a anteceder um The Legendary Tigerman acompanhado. Esse foi também um dos motivos que nos levou ao Hard Club, o de presenciar ao vivo esta metamorfose do “one man band” em coletivo sonoro.

Com óbvio destaque para o novo “Misfit” foram tocados quase todos os temas do álbum à exceção de 4, com maior destaque para “Fix of Rock’n’Roll” e “Motorcycle Boy” que arrebataram o público; da setlist fizeram também parte alguns temas mais conhecidos como “Gone”, “These Boots” ou “21st Century Rock’n’Roll”, tema que terminou o concerto em alta antes de um encore a 2, num dueto com João Cabrita no saxofone para o tema “A Girl Called Home”, uma das faixas do CD “Misfit Ballads”.
Deste concerto saem 2 certezas: podemos esperar um registo diferente de Sean Riley, uma espécie de pausa introspectiva dos seus Slowriders, num trabalho acústico de qualidade. A outra, a de que The Legendary Tigerman nos brinda com mais um álbum de qualidade à qual não pode faltar a vertente ao vivo; ouvir o álbum soa a pouco depois de escutarmos (e vermos) a forma entusiástica e enérgica que nos chega do cimo do palco. Um concerto fantástico tocado por músicos não menos espetaculares. Um agradecimento especial à LiveCom pela oportunidade e ao Hard Club pelas condições oferecidas.

After a sold out room at Lux Frágil in Lisbon, The Legendary Tigerman (aka Paulo Furtado) headed to Hard Club in Oporto to present his new “Misfit”. With him came along Sean Riley (aka Afonso Rodrigues) to start the evening, he who’s also presenting a new work, “California”, recorded by Paulo Furtado.
Alone in the stage without his Slowriders and with just the guitar by company, Sean Riley played some of the songs that will be part of his new solo album to be released in April. This partnership in stage started taking shape way before it during the recordings of “California” tracks but It is slightly curious to see Sean Riley solo preceding an accompanied The Legendary Tigerman. That was also one of the reasons that took us to Hard Club, to see live this metamorphosis from “one man band” to a sonorous union.

From this concert we can take 2 certainties: we can expect a different release from Sean Riley, some sort of introspective pause from his Slowriders, an acoustic quality work. The other is that The Legendary Tigerman brings us another quality album to whom it must not lack the live part; listening to the album sounds not enough after we listen (and watch) the enthusiastic way and energy that’s delivered to us from the stage. A fantastic concert played by not less spectacular musicians. A special thank you to LiveCom for the opportunity and Hard Club for the facilities given.
