Há poucos dias atrás escrevi sobre o álbum “Gea” dos Espanhóis [In Mute] (podem ler aqui); agora, chegou a altura de ouvir dos próprios (na pessoa de Adrian) as respostas às questões sobre o álbum, Art Gates Records e planos para o futuro próximo.
Davi: Olá Adrian, obrigado por dispenderes tempo para falarmos sobre os [In Mute].
Adrian: Obrigado por nos dares a oportunidade de estarmos na Metal Em Portugal. É uma honra para nós atravessarmos a fronteira para conhecermos os nossos vizinhos.
D: A banda tem cerca de 14 anos no entanto “Gea” é o vosso primeiro longa-duração; porquê?
A: É o primeiro álbum com o alinhamento que gravou “One In a Million”. Temos o “Aeternum” com o anterior vocalista e guitarrista, gravado em 2006 e lançado em 2009. Depois gravamos um EP para mostrarmos os novos membros ao mesmo tempo que o Cristobal passou para a guitarra e a Steffi para a voz. Após 4 anos em digressão era óbvio que tínhamos de gravar um longa-duração para darmos o próximo passo, e aqui está ele. “Gea” é a nossa maior aspiração em termos de gravações e esperamos que nos leve o mais longe possível.
D: Ganharem o “W:O:A Metal Battle” em 2014 deu-vos o empurrão que precisavam?
A: Sim, foi um estrondo. Depois disso notamos um aumento nas marcações mas foi também um prémio por termos tocado muito no ano anterior. Acima de tudo foi uma inspiração para crescermos; provamos um pouco da vida das bandas de topo e queremos isso para nós.
D: O que vos fez escolher a Art Gates Records para lançar e promover o vosso álbum?
A: Eles são trabalhadores e reconhecidos pelo bom tratamento. São também amigos próximos e têm as ferramentas para passar fronteiras e partir à conquista da Europa e do Mundo, que nós não temos. Podemos trabalhar em conjunto para levarmos a banda mais adiante.
D: Sabem que já dei a minha opinião sobre o álbum mas agora quero ouvir a vossa história. Porquê “Gea” e toda a sua conceptualidade?
A: Não foi planeado. Pedro, o baixista, chegou-nos um dia com essa história. Explicou-nos tudo e decidimos que seria um incrível tópico para trabalharmos. Como a história tem três partes pensámos em encaixá-las nas três primeiras músicas e depois falarmos de outros assuntos relacionados nas restantes. Também achámos que falam de coisas sobre as quais temos de pensar, não numa forma de queixa mas em termos humanos.
D: Estão agora em digressão para promover “Gea”; há planos para passarem por Portugal?
A: Estamos a trabalhar forte para podermos anunciar algumas datas em Portugal brevemente, não vemos a altura de visitar o vosso país novamente!

A few days ago I wrote about “Gea” from Spanish band [In Mute] (you can read it here); now, it’s time to listen from the band (in the person of Adrian) the answers to the questions regarding the album, Art Gates Records and plans for the near future.
Davi: Hello Adrian, thank you for having the time to talk about [In Mute].
Adrian: Thank you for giving us the chance to be in Metal Em Portugal. It’s an honor for us to cross the border to meet our neighbors.
D: The band is nearly 14 years of age yet “Gea” is your first LP; how come?
A: It’s the first album with the line up who recorded “One In A Million”. We have “Aeternum” with the former singer and guitarist recorded in 2006 and released in 2009. Then we recorded an EP to show the new members, as Cristobal got the lead guitar roll and Steffi became the singer. After 4 years touring it was obvious that we had to record a LP to get to the next step, and here it is. “Gea” is our most aspiring recording and we hope that it will carry us as far as possible.
D: Winning “W:O:A Metal Battle” in 2014 gave you the push you needed to rise?
A: Yes, it was a blast. After that, we noticed a booking increase, but it also was the prize of being playing a lot the previous year. Most of all, it was an inspiration to get bigger; we tasted a little bit of first class working life and we want it.
D: What made you choose Art Gates Records to release and promote your album?
A: They are hard workers, renown for their good treatment. They are also close friends, and they have the tools to cross borders and conquer Europe and the rest of the world we don’t. We can work together as one to bring the band far away.
D: You know I already gave my opinion on the album but now I want to hear your story. Why “Gea” and all its conceptuality?
A: It wasn’t planned. Pedro, the bassist, came with that history one day. He explained us the whole thing and we all decided that it was an incredible topic to work on it. As the history has three parts, we thought that it fit in the first three songs, and then we could talk about related stuff in the others. We also think it speaks about things that we have to think about, not in a reclamation way but in a humanist one.
D: You are now touring in promotion for “Gea”; are there any plans to bring it to Portugal?
A: We are working hard to announce some tour dates in Portugal soon, we can’t wait to visit your country again!
