No alto de uma falésia escuto as ondas a baterem na muralha empedernida, enquanto ao longe se avizinham nuvens de tempestade a aproximarem-se da costa. As gotas de chuva começam a cair, primeiro de forma algo ténue mas rapidamente se transformam numa cortina de água enquanto o vento fustiga as ondas, elevando-as em enormes colunas salgadas. Quase tão rapidamente como começou, a tempestade viu o seu fim dando oportunidade ao Sol para espreitar por detrás das negras nuvens que agora se apartam, quais fileiras de soldados abrindo caminho para o seu general. De novo a calma se instalava e eu podia novamente sentar-me e sentir a fresca brisa na cara.
Poderia dizer que “Liberation”, o novo trabalho dos Alemães The Soulscape Project, começa com uma belíssima conjugação da fúria do black com a melodia do post-black e a envolvência do black ambiente, ajudados por uma passagem progressiva e um refinado toque de jazz, mas isso talvez não fosse suficiente para fazer juz às faixas “Eos” e “Departer”, por isso achei melhor “pintar” o cenário que me ia na alma para perceberem melhor do que se trata. É que mais do que conjugação de sonoridades, a banda cria formosas telas de paisagens musicais que são um deleite para o ouvido. Depois de novo interlúdio/introdução em “Isolation”, somos transportados para uma frenética viagem por diversos estados de espírito que vão do calmo progressivo ao acelerado ritmo cardíaco do black, havendo também tempo para alguma euforia electro big beat a lembrar Prodigy, não esquecendo as vozes na nossa mente, ora suave e melancólica ora agreste e pesada. Apesar de toda esta eloquência artística, a grande obra estava reservada para o final; “The Old House By The Sea” guia-nos nesta derradeira viagem, pegando onde as anteriores ficaram e acrescentando técnica instrumental para além de preencherem o vazio que restava ao corpo que se vinha formando desde o primeiro acorde do álbum, deixando-nos por fim onde tudo começou, na falésia a ouvir o som do mar.
Mais do que um trabalho musical digno de registo, “Liberation” é arte visual sob a forma de sons. Escutando o primeiro registo “The Lifeless”, podemos dizer que este novo trabalho é a libertação que dá vida; e a viagem não fica por aqui, novas paisagens estão a ser trabalhadas para seres percorridas ainda este ano.

On the top of a cliff I listen to the waves hitting the rocky wall, while in the distance stormy clouds are coming closer the shore. The raindrops start falling, first slightly but rapidly transforming in a water curtain while the wind sweeps the waves, elevating them into enormous salty columns. Almost as fast as it started the storm comes to an end giving opportunity for the Sun to peek behind the dark clouds that now move aside like ranks of soldiers opening ways to its general. Again the calm settles down and I could once more sit down and feel the fresh breeze on my face.
I could say that “Liberation”, German band The Soulscape Project newest work, starts with a beautiful combination of black fury with post-black melody and the involvement of black ambiance, helped by a progressive passage and an exquisite jazzy touch, but that wouldn’t probably be enough to do justice to the tracks “Eos” and “Departer” so I’ve decided it was best to “paint” the scenario within my soul so you could better understand what this is all about. It’s more than just a mix of different sonorities, the band creates splendid canvasses of musical landscapes which are a delight for the ears. After another interlude/intro in “Isolation” we are transported to a frantic journey through several states of mind, going from the calmly progressive to the black’s speedy heartbeat also having time for some electro big beat reminding Prodigy, not forgetting the voices in our mind, sometimes sweet and melancholic sometimes harsh and heavy. Dspite all this artistique eloquence the great masterpiece was saved to last; “The Old House By The Sea” guides us in this last journey picking up where the previous left and adding instrumental technique besides filling the void left in the body that was being formed since the album’s first chord, leaving us where it all started, in the cliffs listening to the sound of the sea.
More than a musical work due to be noticed, “Liberation” is visual art in the form of sounds. Listening to the first work “The Lifeless”, we can say this new album is the liberation that gives life; and the journey is far from over with new landscapes being worked to be walked later this year.
