Tracer + Apocalyptica @ Coliseu do Porto

Among the bands I had never had the pleasure to watch live until last Monday were the Australians Tracer and Finnish Apocalyptica. Fortunately I was at Coliseu do Porto, in a “Shadowmaker Tour 2015”’s gig.

Newcomers back in 2012, at the time opening for Black Label Society, Tracer returned to show their latest work “Water For Thirsty Dogs” which brings us tracks like “Astronaut Juggernaut” or “Us Against The World”, sang by many of the presents. Their Stoner/Hard Rock with a twitch of Grunge is addictive, not forgetting the shown on stage by Michael and Jett combined with joyfulness. With a [for now] short career but with 3 releases and this liveliness, this kids are going far…

Finally, after not being able to attend their last concert at Casa da Música in 2010, time now for me to watch one of the band I most appreciate in the Symphonic Metal sub-genre, Finnish Apocalyptica. In a gig where were obviously expected more tracks from their latest work “Shadowmaker”, the band managed to even things with some iconic themes like “Bittersweet”, “Not Strong Enough” or “Reign of Fear” and getting the collaboration of the audience in tracks such as “Seek N Destroy” or “Refuse / Resist”. In more than half an hour presented 20 songs set, some of them sung by Franky Perez who showed on stage why he was chosen to be the only voice in the last album; special note also for Mikko Sirén’s performance. Has highlight, after some words of appreciation by Perttu Kivilaaks and band members presentation which anteceded the last song of the night, the band awarded the audience with a cello version of “A Portuguesa”, loudly sung by all. Fantastic moment!

And so another night in Invicta was passed listening to good music. Thank you to both bands for their performance and Everything Is New for the opportunity. Until next time.
