Tres Thomas é mais conhecido pela sua participação como guitarrista na banda Canadiana de death metal Tales Of The Tomb, mas desde 2016 que se tem dedicado ao seu projeto Infinitee que viu no passado dia 20 a luz do dia com o lançamento do álbum de estreia “The Possibilities Are Endless”. Esta idéia “one man band” conjuga num só trabalho as sonoridades djent, progressivo, metal, rock, electrónica e outras. Logo na primeira faixa “Xenocybin” temos uma mostra da qualidade técnica que podemos escutar nas 6 faixas; a par com “Lost” são duas das faixas em que mais se pode sentir o peso da guitarra a par da bateria numa toada maioritariamente death progressivo. “Robots vs. The Wooden Chairs, Pt.1” e “Robots vs. The Wooden Chairs, Pt.2” combinam electrónica e djent numa mistura de breakdowns e passagens mais uptempo, intercaladas com uma toada mais progressiva e black ambiente mas sempre com uma forte componente electrónica por trás. “The Possibilities Are Endless” aborda uma sonoridade mais rock/jazz progressivo, criando uma espécie de ambiente lounge, terminando depois com “Free” que, como o próprio nome sugere, percorre livremente um pouco de tudo o que foi tocado antes.
Depois de escutarmos “The Possibilities Are Endless” não é preciso mais nada para adjetivar a qualidade técnica de Tres bem como a sua versatilidade musical. E não se pense que a sua criatividade fica por aqui pois já está a terminar o sucessor e a preparar um terceiro registo. Sem sombra de dúvida que as “possibilidades são infinitas” para um resultado que fará as delícias dos fãs da técnica excecional.

Tres Thomas is better known in his participation as a guitar player on the Canadian death metal band Tales Of The Tomb but since 2016 he’s been dedicating time to his project Infinitee that saw the light of day last April 20th with the release of the debut album “The Possibilities Are Endless”. This “one man band” idea combines in just one work djent, progressive, metal, rock, electronic and other sonorities. Right on the first track “Xenocybin” we have a display of the technical quality we can listen on all 6 songs; along with “Lost” they’re two of the tracks were we can better feel the weight of the guitar simultaneously with the drums in a mostly progressive death metal pace. “Robots vs. The Wooden Chairs, Pt.1” and “Robots vs. The Wooden Chairs, Pt.2” combine electronic and djent in a mixture of breakdowns and more uptempo passages, interleaved with a more progressive and black ambiance pace but always with a strong electronic part in the back. “The Possibilities Are Endless” approaches a more progressive rock/jazz sonority, creating some sort of lounge ambiance, ending afterwards with a “Free” that, as the name suggests, freely covers a little bit of everything played earlier.
After we listen to “The Possibilities Are Endless” there’s no need of anything more to adjective Tres technical quality as well as his musical versatility. And don’t think his creativity rests here since he’s already finishing the sophomore and also preparing a third record. Without a doubt that “the possibilities are endless” for an outcome that will surely be delightful for all fans of outstanding technique.
