Depois de terem atuado no VOA 2017 os Finlandeses Insomnium regressaram a Portugal para mais duas datas, 9 de Abril no Hard Club e a 10 no RCA. A primeira parte do concerto ficou a cargo dos Suecos Tribulation, também eles de regresso após terem atuado no Vagos Metal Fest 2017. Estivemos no Hard Club para vos contarmos como correu.
Com um novo trabalho recentemente lançado (“Down Below”), os Tribulation aproveitaram esta passagem pelo Porto para tocarem 3 temas dele: “Lady Death”, “Nightbound” e “The Lament”. A par deste novo trabalho deram igual destaque ao anterior “The Children of the Night” de onde tocaram temas como a belíssima “Melancholia” ou “Strange Gateways Beckon”. Num set que durou cerca de 45 minutos conseguiram cativar uma sala bem preenchida a fazer lembrar o grande concerto do ano passado. Numa banda que ao vivo, para além da qualidade musical, aposta muito no visual de todos os membros, destaca-se a presença de palco de Jonathan Hulten que consegue atrair para si grande parte das atenções.
Mesmo tendo sido lançado em 2016, o álbum “Winter’s Gate” dos Insomnium continua a ser visto por muitos como um marco da cena do death metal melódico originária da Suécia. E a forma como foi tocado na íntegra fez com que ficássemos com a sensação de estarmos a assistir a 2 concertos dentro de 1. “A primeira parte” trouxe o álbum tocado por completo, debaixo de muito pouca luz e quase de forma ininterrupta da primeira à ùltima música, após o que a banda saiu de palco e regressou pouco depois para com “The Primeval Dark” dar início à “segunda parte” do concerto, agora sem a lugubridade anterior e a relembrar (grandes) velhos temas. Com um maior destaque para “Shadows Of The Dying Sun” de onde tocaram além de outros ”Ephemeral” e “The Promethean Song”, revisitaram também “Above The Weeping World” (“Mortal Share”), “Across The Dark” (“Down With the Sun”) e o single “Weather The Storm” , terminando com “One For Sorrow” (“Only One Who Waits”).

Duas grandes bandas em palco só podia ter como resultado uma excelente noite. Apesar de ser a uma segunda-feira a sala apresentou-se bem composta fruto da qualidade que se via e ouvia de cima do palco, dando início da melhor maneira a uma semana de trabalho. Resta-me agradecer ao Hard Club as facilidades concedidas e à Prime Artists a possibilidade de ter participado neste grande espetáculo.

After playing at VOA 2017 Finnish Insomnium returned to Portugal for two more shows, April 9th at Hard Club and on RCA at 10th. The first part of the show was in charge of Swedish band Tribulation, who also returned after playing at Vagos Metal Fest 2017. We were at Hard Club to tell you how it went.
With a new work recently released (“Down Below”), Tribulation took advantage of this trip to Oporto to play 3 songs from it: “Lady Death”, “Nightbound” and “The Lament”. Simultaneously they gave equal highlight to previous “The Children of the Night” from were they played songs like the beautiful “Melancholia” or “Strange Gateways Beckon”. In a set that took nearly 45 minutes they’ve managed to attract a well populated room remind last year’s gig. In a band that when live, besides its musical quality, focus a lot on visual aspects, it highlight Jonathan Hulten stage presence which manages to get most of the attentions.

And the way it was played in full made us feel like we were watching 2 concerts in 1. The “first part” brought the album played entirely under low light and almost without stops from first to last song, after which the band left the stage and returned shortly after to kick start the “second part” on the gig with “The Primeval Dark”, now without the darkness and reminding old (great) songs. With bigger focus on “Shadows Of The Dying Sun” from which they played among others ”Ephemeral” and “The Promethean Song”, revisited also “Above The Weeping World” (“Mortal Share”), “Across The Dark” (“Down With the Sun”) and the single “Weather the Storm”, ending with “One For Sorrow” (“Only One Who Waits”).

Two great bands on stage could only result in an excellent night. Although it was a Monday the room was well filled up because of the quality seen and heard coming from the stage, making it the best beginning of a working week. I just wish to thank Hard Club for the given facilities and Prime Artists for the possibility to take part on this great show.
