Muito Sol, cerveja a rodos e uma multidão de gente (com toda a certeza o melhor início de todas as edições) e começavam a reunir-se as condições ideais para o início dos concertos.
Coube aos Tales For The Unspoken abrirem perante uma plateia animada e numerosa. A celebrarem 10 anos de carreira, foi com muita garra e vontade que subiram ao palco e apresentaram temas do mais recente trabalho “CO2” mas também algumas mais antigas como “Say My Name” ou “N'Takuba Wena”. Marco Fresco estava visivelmente radiante e não se cansava de agradecer o convite e apoio de todos enquanto puxava pelo público, que correspondia sempre da melhor maneira.
Os Alemães And Then She Came estrearam-se em Portugal com uma actuação enérgica aliada a guitarras fortes e rápidas. Apesar do seu som que cruza o rock/metal/electro não ser o favorito da maioria dos presentes, a verdade é que foram muitos os que se mantiveram a assistir enquanto Ji-In Cho se mostrava bastante animada em palco..
Os thrashers Irlandeses Gama Bomb dispensam grandes apresentações. Party thrash da primeira à última música, sempre em alta rotação e constante animação, numa entrega total e sempre correspondida pelo público, a banda passeou um pouco por vários dos seus álbuns tocando temas como “OCP”, “Terrorscope” ou “Ninja Untouchables/Untouchable Glory”. Pelo meio a banda ainda teve tempo de elogiar a cerveja Super Bock e receber elogios pela fatiota de Philly Byrne.
Os Italianos Rhapsody incluíram o VMF na sua tournée de despedida e ainda bem que o fizeram, para deleite dos presentes (mesmo que sem a presença de Alex Staropoli). Com uma setlist a percorrer muitos dos seus trabalhos, cantaram temas como “Beyond the Gates of Infinity”, “Land of Immortals” ou “Lamento Eroico”, na sua maioria acompanhados pelos presentes.
Os Arch Enemy regressaram a Vagos, desta vez com Alissa White-Gluz aos comandos da máquina para mais um grande concerto onde não faltaram os clássicos “War Eternal”, “My Apocalypse” ou “Nemesis”. Por entre agradecimentos e referências ao novo DVD e álbum a sair brevemente, o concerto ia fluindo de forma natural e vigorosa. Facto curioso o de ter sido a única banda que não passou no vídeo wall; terá sido a pedido deles?
Com um novo álbum ainda fresco era com alguma expectativa que se aguardava pela estreia dos Finlandeses Wintersun em Portugal. Apesar do óbvio destaque a “The Forest Seasons” tocaram também temas mais antigos como “Starchild” ou “Sons Of Winters And Stars”. O som não esteve nas melhores condições mas nem por isso deixou de ser um grande concerto, com Jari Mäenpää em constantes agradecimentos pela calorosa recepção.
De regresso a Portugal os Holandeses Therion entraram a todo o gás com “The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah”. Este era um concerto há muito esperado pelos fãs para limpar a má memória da anterior passagem da banda por Portugal por culpa de um promotor em escrúpulos (como bem lembrou Thomas Vikström). Como boa notícia a recuperação de Christofer Johnsson que lhe permitiu estar presente em palco com a banda e a novidade na bateria, onde figurava Fredrik Andersson (ex-Amon Amarth). Ponto alto do concerto a música “To Mega Therion”, terminando depois com “Cults of the Shadow”.
A noite já ia longa mas ainda faltava a actuação dos porno grinders Grunt. Apesar do cansaço provocado pela maratona musical ainda foram muitos os que se mantiveram junto ao palco para ver este último concerto da noite; não sei se pela banda (não é um som que se possa considerar acessível a todos os ouvidos) ou se pela rapariga com muito pouca roupa em palco, mas a verdade é que a festa se manteve animada e ainda houve energia para uns circle pits.

Lot’s of Sun, plenty of beer and a huge crowd (without a doubt the best first day of all previous festivals) and we had the ideal conditions for the gig’s kick off.
Tales For The Unspoken were in charge of opening before a cheerful and crowded public. Celebrating 10 years, was with guts and will that they got up on stage and played songs not only from their latest “CO2” but some older ones like “Say My Name” or “N'Takuba Wena”. Marco Fresco was visible radiant and wouldn’t stop thinking the invitation and support of all while spurring the crowd who always complied the best way.
German band And Then She Came debuted in Portugal with an energetic gig combined with strong and fast guitars. Although their sound that mixes rock/metal/electro wasn’t the favorite for the majority there, truth is that many stood there attending while Ji-In Cho displayed very lively on stage.
Thrash returned on stage by the hand of Revolution Within. Second Portuguese band on stage and cherished by the majority there, was with that spirit that they reel off song after song in a constant cloud of dust. To help the party they’ve invited Marco Fresco for a duet, that way celebrating the much-vaunted appeal for unity in the Portuguese underground scene. The show ended with a wall of death… final result: 0 abrasions, 0 broken bones, 100% heavy metal!

Party thrash from first to last music always in high rotation and constant animation, fully committed with the gig and always reciprocated by the audience, the band played songs like “OCP”, “Terrorscope” or “Ninja Untouchables/Untouchable Glory” taken from several of their albuns. They also had time to praise Super Bock beer and to receive compliments for Philly Byrne’s garment.

Arch Enemy returned to Vagos this time with Alissa White-Gluz in charge of the machine for another great concert where couldn’t be left aside classics like “War Eternal”, “My Apocalypse” or “Nemesis”. Between thank yous and references to band’s newest DVD already released and album to be released soon, the concert was flowing naturally and brisk. Curious fact it was the only band without images on the video wall; could it be at their request?
With a new album just released, Finnish band Wintersun’s debut concert in Portugal was awaited with some expectation. Although the obvious highlight for “The Forest Seasons” they’ve also played some older songs like “Starchild” or “Sons Of Winters And Stars”. The sound wasn’t at its best but nevertheless it was a great show, with Jari Mäenpää constantly thanking the warmth welcome.
On their return to Portugal Dutch band Therion started at full speed with “The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah”. This was a fans most desired concert to clean up the memory of their previous gig in Portugal due to an unscrupulous promoter (as Thomas Vikström well reminded). As for good news the full recovery of Christofer Johnsson which made it possible for him to be on stage with the band and on the drums Fredrik Andersson (ex-Amon Amarth). Highlight of the concert was the song “To Mega Therion”, finishing afterwards with “Cults of the Shadow”.
The night was long but there was still missing porno grinders Grunt gig. Although the tiredness caused by the long musical marathon many stood there close to the stage to see it; don’t know if it was for the band (it’s not a sonority desired by many) or to see the less dressed girl on stage but the fact is that the party kept cheerful and there was even energy left for some mosh pits.Moro photos here.
