Decorreu no passado fim-de-semana no Metalpoint o evento Lazy Cat Rock Fest II que, em 2 dias, apresentou 8 bandas (7 nacionais e 1 internacional) de sonoridade rock e nos mais variados subgéneros.
Coube aos Living Tales abrirem o evento; com apenas um trabalho na sua discografia apresentaram alguns temas novos o que pode indiciar novo álbum para breve. A vocalista Silvia Bellora tem um timbre diferente de Filipa (pessoalmente gosto mais desta nova voz) o que, aliado à ausência do teclista Paulo Oliveira por motivos de saúde, levou a que faltasse um pouco do toque mais sinfónico na atuação da banda, vincando-se a vertente mais progressiva num bom concerto a dar o mote para uma noite bem animada. Já com dois lançamentos e com um novo álbum previsto para o final do ano, os Scream Of The Soul aproveitaram este evento para mostrarem em primeira mão três novos temas que farão parte dele. Não é fácil ficarmos indiferentes ao seu rock especialmente quando Cristiano nos cativa de forma tão efusiva. Apesar de alguns problemas técnicos que levaram a algumas paragens assistimos a um bom concerto onde se pode perceber uma ligeira variação na sonoridade da banda; algo a analisar quando sair o próximo álbum. Os H.O.S.T. trouxeram ao Lazy Cat um “Bastard Of The Fallen Thrones” encabeçado por um Gerrit Dries solto e bem-disposto, resultando numa atuação espetacular naquele que foi o primeiro grande concerto da noite. A fechar esta primeira noite do evento outro grande concerto, desta feita protagonizado pelos Blame Zeus. São já muitas as vezes a que assisti a atuações deles e começa a ser complicado arranjar adjectivos para uma banda que evolui a cada concerto que dá. Entrega, qualidade musical e boa-disposição passam a ser sinónimos da sua música. Grande fecho de noite à altura do evento.
O segundo dia do Lazy Cat Rock Fest II começou com uma certeza, a de que os The Fuzz Dogz tocam um rock/blues de grande qualidade e que não precisaram de muito para arrancarem rasgados elogios e inúmeros aplausos dos presentes. Marco Resende e Pedro Gonçalves não são novatos na cena mas como duo são um nome a reter. Nesta estreia em palco mostraram a grande qualidade do seu som, espera-se ansiosamente pelo primeiro registo. Os Dogma continuam a apresentar o seu “Reditum”, trabalho que já tive o prazer de analisar (podem ler aqui). Tinha curiosidade para ver como resultava ao vivo e não fiquei decepcionado; uma atuação que envolve uma dinâmica musical cénica capaz de envolver o público na sua teia luciferina. De Espanha veio a única banda internacional a atuar, os You Dog!!, que trouxeram com eles um southern groove/rock muito bem executado a acompanhar uma atuação alegre. É certamente uma banda a rever numa próxima oportunidade e que merece voltar cá. A encerrar a noite e o evento o rock/metal cheio de groove e pujança dos Stonerust. Já não é a primeira vez (e espero não seja a última) que os vejo pois são sinónimo de animação; não podemos ficar indiferentes à forma divertida como se apresentam em palco que facilmente contagia todos os presentes. Só pecam por ainda não terem lançamento em suporte físico… fica [mais um] pedido.

Deste Lazy Cat Rock Fest II podemos retirar várias certezas: pelo número de músicas novas apresentadas vamos ter alguns lançamentos para breve; a cena rock está viva e recomenda-se, seja com o ressurgir de algumas bandas ou com o aparecimento de novas. Dou os parabéns à organização pela forma como decorreu o evento e pela sua qualidade, às bandas pela entrega, ao Metalpoint pelas condições (em particular ao Hugo e à Joana pela amizade) e a todos os presentes que ajudaram a fazer a festa. Last weekend took place at Metalpoint the event Lazy Cat Rock Fest II that showed, during the 2 days, 8 bands (7 Portuguese and 1 Spanish) of rock sonority in several sub genres.
Living Tales were chosen to open the event; with only one album released they played some new songs which might indicate a new album soon. Silvia Bellora’s vocal timbre is different from Filipa’s (I personally like more this new one) which combined with keyboard player Paulo Oliveira absence due to illness, ended up slightly lacking the symphonic touch on their performance but increasing the progressive part in a good gig that gave the motto for a pleasant night. With two releases on their rooster and another one expected for the end of the year, Scream Of The Soul took this opportunity to play first hand three new songs that will be on it. It’s not easy to stay neutral to their rock especially when Cristiano allures us so gushingly. Although some technical problems that led to some short pauses we watched a great gig were we could sense some slight variation in their sonority; something to analyse at the time of the next release. H.O.S.T. brought to Lazy Cat a “Bastard Of The Fallen Thrones” led by a loosened and cheerful Gerrit Dries that end up in a spectacular performance of what was the best concert of the night so far. Closing this first night of the event another great concert this time featuring Blame Zeus. Many are the times I’ve seen them live so far and it becomes harder to describe a band that evolves at each given concert. Commitment, musical quality and good mood are now synonyms of their music. Great closing of the first day.
The second day of Lazy Cat Rock Fest II started with a certainty, that The Fuzz Dogz play high quality rock/blues and don’t need too much effort to pull out praises and applause from the audience. Marco Resende and Pedro Gonçalves aren’t new in the scene but as a duo are a name to hold. On this stage debut showed a high quality sound, we are waiting eagerly for the first record. Dogma continue presenting “Reditum”, album that I already had the pleasure to review (you can read it here). I was curious to see how they worked out live and I wasn’t disappointed; a very scenic performance whose dynamic can easily involve the audience in a luciferian web. From Spain came the only international band, You Dog!!, who brought with them a southern rock/groove very well played keeping up with a joyful act. Is without a doubt a band to see again in the future and one who deserves to return here. Closing the night and the event Stonerust’s vigorous rock/metal full of groove. It’s not the first time (and hopefully not the last) I see them live because they’re synonyms of a good time; we can’t stay indifferent to the funny way they present themselves on stage easily grabs the audience. They just lack for not having yet a physical release of their work… I leave here [another] request.

From this Lazy Cat Rock Fest II we can draw several conclusions: by the number of new music showed we can expect some releases soon; the rock scene is alive and well, whether with the return of some bands or new ones appearing. I leave here my congratulations to the organization by the way the event took place and by its quality, to the bands for the commitment, Metalpoint for the facilities given (especially Hugo and Joana for their friendship) and all the ones attending that helped the party. I also thank Lazy Cat for the invitation leaving the certainty that they can count on Metal Em Portugal for the third edition. Until there!
